"The 2014 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the domaine 1.82-hectares of 25- to 60-year-old vines that are located in the lieu-dit "Les Poullailères" (no, I can never pronounce that either). It has a very well defined, detailed bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry and wilted rose petal scents that display fine intensity. The palate is medium-bodied, perhaps showing a little too much new oak on the entry and as such, it will need several years in bottle to fully absorb the wood. There is just a touch of bitterness on the aftertaste that nags away, hence my parsimonious score at this point."
