"Gauby’s 2003 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Vieilles Vignes (uniting ancient-vine Grenache and Carignan with a bit of Syrah and Mourvedre) smells of maraschino, kirsch distillate, pungent spice and herb, and flowers. It stains the palate with layers of distilled and fresh fruit concentrates, with nut oils, honey, cherry stone, and a wealth of spicy, herbal and mineral nuances informing its incisive finish. This completely defies its vintage and seems likely to cellar well for up to a decade."
